I believe with all my heart that the good news of the gospel should always be free. Nothing in God’s kingdom is for sale, it’s way too expensive to be bought with manmade money. This salvation and all these promises that we enjoy were bought with a price greater than silver, diamonds and gold. This kingdom was purchased with the precious blood of the Lamb. In Romans 8:32 it says,
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
Jesus truly paid it all and God wants to FREELY give us ALL things through Him. In my opinion way too many people are trying to put price tags on things that God has made free. The church has been living in a horrible epidemic of guilt ridden, condemnation based manipulation in the area of giving for far too long. We believe that God is changing this, we believe that Jesus is tossing the temple tables and turning his Father’s house into a place of prayer rather than a den of thieves. I know these are strong word but I believe this is an area of the church that needs major change. In 2 Corinthians 9:7 it says,
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Giving is supposed to be a beautiful thing that is not pressured by man but directed by God. It should be a joy not a crushing obligation. When we give as God leads us, it helps the body of Christ to flourish, for everyone’s needs to be met and allows the kingdom of God to advance to help people and set the captives free.
